Pleshette graduated from The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater and worked under Sanford Meisner. She began her career as a stage actor with over 100 credits. Her role in the role of Emily Hartley, a TV host for the series from 1972 to 1978 in The Bob Newhart Show was one of her most loved roles. In 1989, Pleshette was the lead character Christine Broderick in the series Nightingales. From 1994 until 1995 she was Jackie Hansen's role on The Boys Are Back. Pleshette was an actress on the television show Suzanne Pleshette. Her characters included Maggie Briggs (Good Morning, Miami), 8 Simple Rules and Will & Grace. She was also a part of The Geisha Boy, and The Birds. She was nominated to an Annie Award for her singing in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Pleshette was honored with two Golden Globe Awards nominations.
