Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain, born March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Her most famous work is her role in films with female-centric themes. She has won numerous awards which include an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential persons across the globe in 2012. Chastain began to develop an interest in acting from an early age and made her stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. She studied acting at Juilliard School and was then signed to a contract for talent-holding with John Wells, a television producer. She was a frequent guest star in several television series, and took on the roles in several stage productions. Her film debut came in Jolene (2008) when she was 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough by releasing six films which included The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) as well as The Tree of Life (2012). Her roles in these films included an aspiring socialite and a CIA analyst, she was awarded Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain has also received praise for her performance as strong-willed females in the dramas A Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), and Molly's Game (2017), as well as the mini-series on television Scenes from a Marriage (2021). She was later cast as Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) with the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the investor and founder of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo is her husband.
